Love-Hatbox Sports Complex

The 60-acre Love Hatbox Sports Complex is home to the historic Hatbox Airfield, which has seen the likes of such people as Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhardt.

Hatbox Airfield was opened sometime in the early 1920s and was closed in 2000.

Three Rivers Area Model Plane Society (T.R.A.M.P.S.), a local model airplane club, hosts two annual events at Love-Hatbox attracting flying enthusiasts from around the country.

From its humble beginnings, Love-Hatbox Sports Complex has become a sports and tourist destination, attracting an estimated 100,000 residents and visitors throughout the summer.

The complex infrastructure, which includes over 1,000 parking spaces, streets, sidewalks, drinking fountains, restrooms and concession areas, is sufficient for large regional tournaments - all handicapped accessible and well landscaped.

Love_Hatbox Sports Complex offers:
Baseball - 10 lighted baseball fields
Softball - 8 lighted softball fields (youth and adult)
Football - 2 lighted football fields
Soccer - 13 soccer fields
Batting Cages - 3 indoor batting cages
Multi-purpose Activity Trail- 3.1 mile (5k) Cenntennial Trail
Outdoor Skate Park

The City of Muskogee's Parks and Recreation Department coordinates all seasonal sports and league users of the Love-Hatbox Sports Complex.

Also located at the Love-Hatbox Sports Complex is the River Country Family Water Park.

In May 2000, the City of Muskogee debuted the new waterpark which features zero depth pools, a lazy river, water slides, and water playgrounds with participating water motion features.  The 5-acre site provides areas for sunbathing, shade, concession and dining, sand volleyball, and sand play.

The Love Hatbox Skate Park opened in March 2002.  This 10,000 square foot lighted skate park is located just north of River Country Family Water Park, and offers skate boarders, in liners and bikers extreme opportunities 7 days a week.

With its existing facilities and future additions, Love-Hatbox Sports Complex is one of the most complete sports and recreational destinations in the state; this in major part due to the continued generosity and far-sightedness of Mr. Barry Love.
